Circle of Fifths is a music-theory reference and practice tool — an interactive circle of fifths, chord and scale diagrams, and a set of listening tools including a tuner and a sound-level meter. It is built by ASHA Technology LLC. This policy explains what the app does with the microphone, what it stores, and what it never does.
Circle of Fifths uses the microphone for its listening tools: tuning your instrument, showing sound levels, and comparing a note you sing or play against a reference. To do this it reads the incoming audio signal in real time and measures its pitch and loudness on your device, moment to moment.
That audio is never recorded to a file, never stored, and never transmitted off your device. Nothing is kept after it is measured — once a moment of sound has been turned into a pitch or a level on screen, the audio itself is gone. The app does not save clips, does not build a history of what it heard, and has no way to send audio anywhere because it has no server and makes no network connection.
Microphone access is optional and is only requested when you open a tool that needs it. The circle, the chord and scale diagrams, and the rest of the app work without granting it.
Any preferences you set — the key, the instrument, display and sound options — are stored locally on your device in the app's own storage area. This information is never transmitted to ASHA Technology LLC or to any third party. There is no account, no profile, and no server to send anything to.
Circle of Fifths does not have user accounts. You are never asked for an email address, a password, a phone number, or a name. There is nothing to sign up for and nothing to log into.
The app contains no analytics SDK, no crash-reporting service, no advertising identifier, and no third-party trackers of any kind. We do not know how often you open the app, which tools you use, or whether you use it at all. Nothing about your behaviour in the app is measured or transmitted.
Circle of Fifths does not connect to the internet to function. All of its content — the theory, the diagrams, and the instrument samples it plays — is bundled inside the app, and all audio analysis happens on your device. There is no backend to be breached, because there is no backend.
The app may use your device's vibration to give physical feedback for certain interactions. This uses only the built-in vibration motor and involves no data collection.
Circle of Fifths is free to download and use. If a future version adds an optional one-time purchase to unlock additional content, it will be processed entirely by Apple through the App Store or by Google through Google Play. ASHA Technology LLC never sees, receives, or stores your payment details, card number, or billing address; the app would only ever learn whether a purchase was completed. This policy would be updated before any such version ships.
Circle of Fifths is not directed at children under 13 and collects no personal information from anyone, including children.
Because we hold no data about you, there is nothing for us to disclose, correct, export, or delete on request. You can remove everything the app holds at any time by deleting the app from your device, which removes its local settings along with it.
If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted at this URL with a new "Last updated" date. Material changes — in particular any change to what the app collects — will also be described in the app's release notes.
