KeySpin is a music-theory reference and practice tool — an interactive circle of fifths, guitar and piano chord diagrams, and a pair of listening tools — a sound-level meter and a voice-against-instrument balance meter. It is built by ASHA Technology LLC. This policy explains what the app does with the microphone, what it stores, and what it never does.
KeySpin uses the microphone for its two meters: showing how loud a room is, and comparing the loudness of your voice against the loudness of your instrument. To do this it reads the incoming audio signal in real time and measures its loudness on your device, moment to moment.
That audio is never recorded to a file, never stored, and never transmitted off your device. Nothing is kept after it is measured — once a moment of sound has been turned into a level on screen, the audio itself is gone. The app does not save clips, does not build a history of what it heard, and has no way to send audio anywhere, because there is no server to send it to.
Microphone access is optional and is only requested when you open a meter that needs it. The circle, the chord diagrams, and the rest of the app work without granting it.
Any preferences you set — the key, the instrument, display and sound options — are stored locally on your device in the app's own storage area. This information is never transmitted to ASHA Technology LLC or to any third party. There is no account, no profile, and no server to send anything to.
KeySpin does not have user accounts. You are never asked for an email address, a password, a phone number, or a name. There is nothing to sign up for and nothing to log into.
The app contains no analytics SDK, no crash-reporting service, no advertising identifier, and no third-party trackers of any kind. We do not know how often you open the app, which tools you use, or whether you use it at all. Nothing about your behaviour in the app is measured or transmitted.
KeySpin has no server. All of its content — the theory, the diagrams, and the instrument samples it plays — is bundled inside the app, and all audio analysis happens on your device. There is no ASHA Technology backend to be breached, because there is no backend, and the app never sends anything anywhere on its own.
The one exception is the in-app purchase. Asking whether it has been bought is a question for Apple or Google, and answering it needs a network. That exchange is run by their code, not ours, between your device and the store you already have an account with. It carries no information about you from this app, and nothing else in the app uses the network at all — the circle, the diagrams, the sound and the meters all work with the device in airplane mode.
The app may use your device's vibration to give physical feedback for certain interactions. This uses only the built-in vibration motor and involves no data collection.
KeySpin is free to download and use, and offers one optional in-app purchase that unlocks the rest of its features. It is a single one-time purchase, not a subscription. It is processed entirely by Apple through the App Store or by Google through Google Play, and ASHA Technology LLC never sees, receives, or stores your payment details, card number, or billing address. The app learns only whether the purchase was completed — a yes or a no, held on your own device — and asks the store again when it is opened so that a refund takes effect. No account is created and nothing identifying you is stored or transmitted.
KeySpin is not directed at children under 13 and collects no personal information from anyone, including children.
Because we hold no data about you, there is nothing for us to disclose, correct, export, or delete on request. You can remove everything the app holds at any time by deleting the app from your device, which removes its local settings along with it.
If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted at this URL with a new "Last updated" date. Material changes — in particular any change to what the app collects — will also be described in the app's release notes.
